FFX and Xenosaga are the first to come to mind. Dragon Warrior 8 does as well for the great graphics. It's more of a RP/TBS but I think phantom brave had a certain charm to it.

For non-PS2 games... The baldur's gate games. I would almost pick KOTOR I & II as well as NWN, but I hated the endings of all of them. In fact for the PC, I can't remember too many good SP RPGs because all I can remember all diablo clones (some were okay, but hardly great). Too little innovation in the past couple of years.

PS:T = blah at best.

FFXII is looking really good I think

Fallout was pretty meh. So was BG, and Icewind Dale, and NWN, and pretty much all of those PC RPGs. I never could get into those.

I'm more a console fan at heart, as far as RPGs are concerned. When I think RPG, I tend to think more along the lines of Earthbound and Suikoden (especially the second one).
